05_The Way Day 2

Today we walk 15 miles to Palas de Rei.

The pain level at the end of yesterday was intimidating along with today’s mileage being even 2 miles more, but sleep is an ally and Advil is our best friend and that has seemed to make things doable today.

We are more mission oriented today and less in sight-seeing mode. “Oh looky, yet another beautifully quaint stone town… Again!” There’s a whole lot of farming going on in this region. The pictures do not do it justice.

Cafe con leche will be our fuel for our next 7.5 miles. Bien Camino!

7.1 miles in and you guys aren’t even awake yet.
Don’t worry. We had a chat and he’s super nice. I just had to let him know who the alpha was.
Bulls following us on the road, they didn’t like the way Rob was looking at them.
Our hotel for this night. Rectoral de Lestedo.
We walked 3 miles past our hotel. Got a taxi back to the hotel for this.
Chorizo y huevos, different but good.
This guy introduced himself as, “Super Mike”. And he is indeed super fantastic. Our luggage got lost and he found our luggage and had it brought back to us and served us fantastic food. Best stop on the Camino so far.
Joe and Johnathan. We met here at the hotel. Fellow Americans from LA. Surprisingly, we’ve encountered a very small handful of Americans so far. These crazy jokers are doing all 500 miles of the Camino starting in France, beginning all the way back on July 2nd.
This is Umberto. Owner of this fine establishment. Also cooks for you, hosts and taxi service for his patrons. An unbelievably nice guy. The backstory of the structure is that it is 300 years old and was a hospital for those on the pilgrimage.
Off to start day 3 of hiking.
