03_2023 Sarria

An all day travel to get to Sarria. Literally a “planes trains and automobiles” day. Taxi to airport, plane from Madrid to A Coruna multiple trains from A Coruna to Sarria. It’s not that terribly far away but Sarria is a small town and we will be on the move all day. We will be pulling in after 9:00 pm. Verizon international phone service is an absolute debacle.

Landed in a beautiful A Coruna to a cool foggy morning sunrise.

Our trip has been quite intensely hot until now. A Coruna this morning has quite cool temps. Feels wonderful.

We landed at 7:45 and will be bussing to the train station but we will be hold up here in A Coruna until 5:20 tonight before we press on. Seems a nice place to have to waste a day at.

Right at the airport as we wait for the bus, there is this strange, stilted, stone micro church.
Still at the airport waiting for the bus to take to the train station and the fog is settling in even more.
Missed our bus stop for the train station and ended up getting a local tour guide by a super friendly local named Anna who was very happy about how much she loved her town and wanted us to experience it.
Anna walked us to the beach/cove where surfers abound (zoom in).
Serendipitously found the Atlantic Ocean.
Anna told us about this structure. Hercules Tower. She said it was the world’s oldest lighthouse. Hoping to get there while we wait for the train.
We got there.
I do believe that Anna probably meant it is the oldest still used lighthouse. https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1312/
On a bus in A Coruna and somehow Gisele from HR sat down right in front of me, then proceeded to ignore me for the entire ride. She’s going to get an earful when I get back to the states.
Michelle is making me post this picture she took.
